Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6

I have sub menus in Bookmarks, let's say Personal/Hardware/Hardware News .
When I click on Personal, then quickly on Hardware sub-folder, the thing
collapses, and I have to start over from the parent bookmark list.
(This was just an example, it happens with any other folders too of course.)

This thing only happens if you're fast with the mouse, if you do it slow, it
won't. Sometimes you can reproduce it even without clicking, just by scrolling
over the subfolders with the mouse.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click on Bookmarks
2. Click on Sub-Folder-A
3. Click on Sub-Folder-B (inside Sub-Folder-A) real quick (or just scroll mouse
pointer over it)

Actual Results:
The sub-folder menus disappear, you get back to the main, parent Bookmarks view.

Expected Results:
It should work the same as if I clicked slow.
Related to bug 183147?
I was able replicate this bug using Firefox on a Win XP Pro (Service Pack 2) system. Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.1) Gecko/20060124 Firefox/1.5.0.1

This does occur if you go to View -> Character Encoding and the click one of he sub-menus. It seems to be isolated to the Bookmarks.

This bug is more of a nuisance than anything. But it tends to happen fairly frequently especially if you know exactly where the bookmark you need is.
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!

Yes it's still present.

To be more accurate it happens when you move your mouse diagonally straight to the target, instead of first moving it right horizontally, then downwards vertically.
So to reproduce, make a bookmark folder with 30-40 subfolders and after the submenu opens move mouse to the bottom one in a straight line.

You don't even need to click and the subfolder collapses, but it does right away if you click as well.
What version of firefox are you using now?

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4

This is also a completely new machine and install since the first report of the bug.
