RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 254913

People

(Reporter: mwburden, Unassigned)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040316
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040316

This might make users of Mozilla Mail more secure against "phishing" attacks.

The idea is that if the link text looks like a URL, but it is a different URL
than the real link, then Mozilla Mail will show the link text followed by the
real link (maybe in []'s, ala Slashdot).

Alternately, maybe an asterisk or some icon could be inserted after the link to
warn the user that the link does not go where the link text says. The user
could click on the icon for more details.

This should probably be something that can be turned on and off in the user
preferences, as I can imagine circumstances where it may not be wanted.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a "phishing" email
2. Follow a link
3. End up at a different website than the link text said
