User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr-FR; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050717 Firefox/1.0.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr-FR; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050717 Firefox/1.0.6

It seems that when a tag is inserted between the <a href> and </a> like <a
href="foo.com"><strong>blabla</strong></a>, the "open in new tab" function I
assigned to the middle mouse button is inefficient. But the function accessed
through the contextual menu works well. Easy reproducable when clicking on the
topics of a Vbulletin forum.
Sorry for my english...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.create a link : <a href="foo.com"><strong>blabla</strong></a>
2.assign the "open in new tab" function to the middle button (the one with the
wheel) of you mouse
3.click on the link : nothing happens

Actual Results:
click on the link : nothing happens

Expected Results:
it should have open foo.com in a new tab
Are you using the single window mode extension?

I don't.
Do you still see this problem using Firefox 3.5? Please update the bug, and close/alter bug if appropriate.
