In my setup, we're having a large number of classifications/products and it's
getting to the point where I need to have classification level groups, not just
product specific groups.
I'm not sure how best to address this, for I'd also like to see N-Level
classifications (bug #291245)
FYI, there may be a similar ticket, but I couldn't find one.

I agree, this could be very useful for instance when several companies use the same DB but you don't want to let customers of one company see other companies' products. So you could have one classification per company, where each company has its own products, and group restrictions would be at the company level, i.e. at the classification level.
This would also make classifications more useful. :-p

Attached is a 3.4.4 patch, been using something like this since 3.2.
Note that I'm currently hard coding the classification groups to be just editbugs and editcomponents. I suppose this should be more generalized, yet it's been more than sufficient for my needs the past twelve months.
