User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b) Gecko/20050217 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b) Gecko/20050217 Moin Moin. Upon trying to set the mail Directory to a drive, where the space is, I tried to change "Mail & Newsgroups Account Stteings" "local foders" "message storage" "local directory" from "c:\documents and settings\accountname\"... to one on a different drive, say, "t:\netmail" (where there is enough space). As it is Windows, I do not have soft-links. Using the browse-button ignores my selection. Changing the directories via about:config, editing prefs.js, panacea.dat does not have any effect. What I essentially wanted to do is, using my old netscape-database and import it into mozilla. _Tschuess, __Michael. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click "Edit". 2. Click "Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings". 3. Click "local foders". 4. Click "message storage"/"local directory". 5. Click "browse". 6. Select the directory. 7. "local directory" still shows the old one "c:\documents and settings\accountname\"... and does not show the netscape mails. Actual Results: Changes ignored. Expected Results: Use the new directory.

did you try shutting down and restarting? It's a known issue that you need to shut down and restart for that setting to take effect. If that's not the issue, do you see anything on the js console when you try to change the directory?

(In reply to comment #1) > It's a known issue that you need to > shut down and restart for that setting to take effect. Bug 2654 -- Michael Soliman, mark this bug as a dupe of that one, if that's the problem you encountered.

Moin Moin. By the way, restarting Mozzi, after having tried to change this value, does not have any effect, just as is the case with changing the opref.js, panacea.dat files. _Tschuess, __Michael. Moin Moin. I found it. Changing the preferences by using the UI does not affect the problem and thus makes this bug a new one with respect to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2654 . But ending Mozzi, changing the pref.js file directly along with (!!!) all [profd] entries to the correct directory solves the problem. _Tschuess, __Michael.
