See comments in bug 302213.  To summarize, mailnews will actually throw on
non-mailto: URIs that happen to have the type it's using, which ends up with no
feedback for the user as to why their click did nothing...  Mailnews should just
use a custom channel impl instead of a custom nsIURIContentListener.

Doing this depends on bug 229168, probably.
