I used popup blocker's whitelist to allow my bank site to open a popup window
that was necessary to complete a transaction. Since then, I've allowed 2 sites
to be on my whitelist. And since then, I've getting popup window ads that hide
behind my main window. I've removed the second site leaving only the bank site.
And that has not helped. It feels as if there is no more popup blocking
despite the option being continuously checked on in my preferences.

Reproducible: Didn't try
sounds like a flash popup, which we can't do anything about.

do you have a specific page that demonstrates this? otherwise we can't verify.
Summary: Popup Blocker fails to block non whitelisted sites... Since I've started using the whitelist for certain sites (like my bank), I've noticed that popup ad window now popup and hide behind my main window. → Popup Blocker fails to block non whitelisted sites... Does privacy.popups.disable_from_plugins work for us? I know it's not even in
Gecko 1.7.x/Camino 0.8.x.

I think so; bug 176079 comment 43 is blocked, but then I see a popup when I
change the setting to 0. It should exist on the branch, too; see bug 258487
comment 12.

Reporter, we need specific URL(s) that generate the unwanted pop-unders.
Hi.

I downloaded the newest version 0.9 and the pop-blocker thing is resolved. So
far, I've not received unwanted pop-ups.

Sorry, I don't remember the exact sites! Will send info if I notice it with the
other version (0.8)... But many times, I'd been surfing a while when I suddenly
catch a glimpse of a small window loaded behind the main one.

But again, it seems to be much better in 0.9.
I'll go ahead and close this bug since the problem seems to be gone in 0.9a,; if
you do find sites that are still slipping popups/pop-unders by 0.9 builds, you
can reopen this bug with their URLs.

(There used to be a general Core tracking bug for sites that got around the
popup blocker, but I can't find it now....)
