I have a fried who has the habit of pasting the body of web pages into email
messages to forward them to me (using Outlook Express). For some web sites, when
these pages arrive in my Thunderbird inbox, they cause the subject field of the
message list to become very wide making it impossible to see the other fields.
The body of the message can also become very wide or moved off to the right side
of the window with no horizontal scroll bar to allow you to view it.

To reproduce:

Open Firefox, and go to one of these pages:

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2005/07/30/spacewalking_astronauts_test_repair_techniques/
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/28/technology/circuits/28basics.html (you'll need
to log in)

Select the entire body of the page with Ctrl-A, and copy, Ctrl-C
Open Outlook Express and create a new message
Paste the web page into the body of of the message, Ctrl-V
Address the message and send
Receive the message in Thunderbird
View message in your inbox by clicking on it in the message list
Message list subject field will become very wide, other fields will disappear

This happens in Thunderbird 1.0 and 1.0.6
Won't anyone look at this bug? I still get it in 1.07. It's pretty broken.

Ok, now I see that there are 713 open bugs against Thunderbird 1.0. I can see this will probably never get looked at.
Severity: normal → major
It will be looked at in due course.
