User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3

Firefox fails to make auto connection of broadband upon power resumption.
Firefox 1.0.3 shortcut link resides in Windows Startup folder and cannot connect
to home page since it fails to call-up broadband auto connection. Have tried IE
6.0 and has no problem at all. Noticed Firefox doesnot wait long enough
(compared to IE) before pronouncing 'Connection with Home Page failed'.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Placed Firefox shortcut link in Windows Startup folder,
2. Restart computer,
3. FFox starts normally.
Actual Results:
FFox fails to connect to remote server home page.

Expected Results:
Upon FFox started, broadband connection should be established, and remote home
page displayed. Power disruption locally and create problem for system
unattended as normal link with remote server cannot be established automatically
when power supply resumes.
The essential idea of this bug is to make to
- either have a generally longer HTTP timeout period pre-configured (a topic where apparently some policy already exists, see discussion in bug 142326)
- or to make it configurabel which is at the heart of bug 142326.

Since latter will render it obsolete in any case: 'duping'.

REOPEN:

I'm not convinced the HTTP Timeouts are the problem here.

It sounds like what luas63 wants is: do what IE does.

What does IE do? it auto-connects the broadband network connection.

Can you look at: http://www.mozilla.org/quality/networking/docs/autodial.html

and see if it is helpful? It might be out of date, I worked on this a long time ago.
