User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8b3) Gecko/20050729 Fedora/1.1-0.2.5.deerpark.alpha2 Firefox/1.0+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8b3) Gecko/20050729 Fedora/1.1-0.2.5.deerpark.alpha2 Firefox/1.0+ If Thunderbird fails to load a message for some reason, a "Try again" link appears in place of the message. Clicking on this link, however, results in this potentially confusing warning: External Protocol Request An external application must be launched to handle chrome: links. Requested link: chrome://global/content/netError.xhtml?e=connectionFailure&u=...blah... If you were not expecting this request it may be an attempt to exploit a weakness in that other program. Cancel this request unless you are sure it is not malicious. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a newsgroup. 2. Disconnect from the network, or otherwise annihilate the server in question. 3. Open a message that hasn't been cached. 4. Click OK on the "Failed to connect" alert. 5. Click "Try again". Actual Results: See above.

which thunderbird version?
Sorry. I'm using Thunderbird 1.0.6-0.1.fc5 (20050719) on Fedora Core development.
oh. there have been a lot of error page fixes since then. I'm going to assume that this was fixed by bug 237244 (because this works for me in trunk builds). 1.0.x won't get any of those fixes, but the next version of thunderbird (1.5 I guess) should have them, as do nightly trunk builds. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 237244 ***
