User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050801 Firefox/1.0+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050801 Firefox/1.0+ At many websites, the text cannot be resized using ctrl-<+>/ctrl-<-> or View > Text Size > increase/Decrease. See article above for a specimen. I have been noticing this for at least a month. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. On certain websites, wait for page to stop loading 2. attempt to change text size Actual Results: Text size does not increase or decrease. Expected Results: Text size should increase or decrease. At the site above - and other sites where this has occurred - the text is resizable while the page is loading. If you set the text larger or smaller during the loading, it remains at this size and cannot be changed without reloading the page. Then it can be reloaded. As at many of these sites, there is an ad on the right where the text is changed while the main text is not changed. The phenomenon has been confirmed by others. One even found a reversal of the page's behavior - the ad's text was not changed where the main text was changeable. link for the Mozillazine Forum thread: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=1648027#1648027

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050802 Firefox/1.0+ ID:2005080215 I see this too.
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Ever confirmed: true
Based on a comment in the forum thread, I tried 1.0.5 on the page. in that case, the main page text was changed and the ad text was frozen.

Now this WFM - I don't understand. Looks like it's up to someone else to isolate this. Sorry for bugspam.
I just installed the 2005-08-02 build, and the test page WFM now, on both my default profile and a new clean profile - no extensions, no themes. ?

This appears related to JavaScript. If it's relevent, the screen flashes white once the page finishes loading (presumably an onload handler) and from that point onwards I cannot resize the text.

I have noticed that when this does happen, that when I attempt to change the text size, the change will happen on the other stylesheets (i.e., if I try to change the text size and then go to View > Page Style > No Style (or back to Basic Page Style if I was on "No Style"), the text got larger).

There's a flash ad on this page and when it's visible, the frame of the flash ad gets focus (sidebar advertising) then that frame's text gets resized and not the main content. If you're blocking that frame, you won't see that the text is actually resizing. If that flash ad isn't present, then you don't get focus on that frame and thigns just work. not a blocker (possibly not even a bug)

Well, this appears to work just fine on the Aviary branch... I think it needs more investigation before it can be ruled out as a bug. Besides, even if this is how things are meant to work, it doesn't seem particularly desirable to let a website stop the user resizing the text (either by accident or intentionally).

WFM Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050814 Firefox/1.0+ I don't understand parts of Asa's comment. Why would only one frame have its text size change?

Should that be an additional check box under Tools:Options:Content:Enable Javascript:Advanced ?
