Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1. I first open internet, using GOOGLE for first page. I noticed that all my preferences had disapeared. 2. Then I went to the mail-box, and a new one opened which was totaly clear of all the mails (including very important datas I used to keep there. 3. I've been asked to re-create a profile in a new box. Actual Results: I re-create a new profile and then i've been asked for a "mot de passe" corresponding to the POP server. Errm, I'm not sure what this is to do with exactly, but its not address book.

Could it be that you a) used Mozilla as another Windows user than before b) did not have the drive holding your Mozilla profile connected to your computer c) deleted some files in MyDocuments (your Windows profile folder) The reason why I ask is because from what I understand it seems as if your whole Mozilla profile disappeared, not just the mail preferences. If that is the case, then it might either be because you are now using another Mozilla profile than before (see a) or because the original profile cannot be found any more (see b, or it might actually be data loss). Maybe you could try searching for your profile on your harddisk(s). Try searching for *.slt as folder name.
WFM. It could have been a case of the "surviving parent.lock", which resulted in starting with a new, blank profile. Haven't seen this issue in a long time.
