The default setting of mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action is 2 which is "2
- Move back/forward in history", but it can cause pages to change accidentally.
This has been occuring more often on the newer iBooks and Powerbooks because the
touchpads have 2 finger scrolling, and it's not too hard to accidentally move
your fingers left/right while moving up/down (causing a mousescroll horizontally
as well as vertically). Also, people using the new Mighty Mouse scroll ball (for
mac/windows) run into the problem commonly.

A better choice would be to set it the same as
mousewheel.withnokey.(action|numlines|sysnumlines), so the page scrolls
horizontally on a horizontal mouse scroll.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Attached patch default pref change (obsolete) — Splinter Review
Changed default action from back/forward history to linescroll 1 with system
num lines (same settings as the vertical nokey scroll)
Attached patch patchSplinter Review
real patch ;)
