Steven Michaud, developer of the JEP plugin that is in our tree now, should be
in about:credits. He has also contributed to our general Mac java plugin system.

JEP is already packaged with Camino and I'll be landing it in Firefox shortly.

I am keeper of about:credits but not the Firefox dialog. The normal procedure is
that people ask to be on there themselves - can you CC Steven to check he's OK
with this?

Yes, both this bug and bug 303229 should be "fixed" before the 1.5 release.
