If someone emails me a Word or Excel document and I just double-click on it, the
document won't open automagically in Word Viewer 2003 or Excel Viewer 2003. This
didn't happen with the 97 versions of those (free from MS) programs. It brings
up the download window, as if it were downloading the program from the IMAP
server, but the program never starts to download, and it just sits there until I
close the window. So what I have to do is drag the file to my desktop, then
double-click on it from there.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Email myself a Word or Excel document
2. Don't have Word or Excel installed, just Word Viewer and Excel Viewer
3. Try to open the attachment directly from Thunderbird.

Actual Results:
Thunderbird waits at the download window, but never actually downloads anything.

Expected Results:
Download the file and run the appropriate viewer.
Sounds like a Windows issue. You probably need to set those viewers to handle
the file types of the Excel/Word files you are viewing. If you don't, it's just
going to try to open then with Excel which results in it asking you to install
the program. Not a Thunderbird issue, and therefore probably INVALID.
Windows already opens the files in the viewers whenever I double-click. The file
type associations are indeed set, so it's apparently not a Windows problem.
Could you test this in the latest builds?
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-trunk/ Be sure
to make sure you have TB set to open the files with the correct program in Tools
> Options > Attachment > View & Edit Actions.
Uugh....it was a configuration problem on my end; MS changed default install
locations from versions 97 to 2003.

Sorry....:(

At the same time....shouldn't Thunderbird have said "I can't find that viewer
file....are you sure it's not somewhere else?"
