Sometimes when I start up Thunderbird it downloads all (more than 7000) mails
from my pop&imap accounts again, even though they're already stored locally!
I have Leave Mails on Server on for both accounts.
I think this especially happens when I had no more diskspace free before or also
when it crashed.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use Leave Mails on Server for one of your accounts
2. Start thunderbird
3. Fill your disk up to the last byte
4. Leave it open for a while, then close it
5. Free some diskspace again and see what the beast does when you start it

Actual Results:
All your mail gets downloaded again!

Expected Results:
-

This is so annoying! It's not exactly loss of data, but you have to go through
all your mail and delete the copies if you don't want to have several of the
same messages after time! Deleting 7000 messages takes a lot of time, even if
you use some tricks to sort those duplicates out.
Related to/dupe of bug 262408?
I'm obsering this right now with my copy of Thunderbird. I had a desktop freeze,
so I killed X, and thus the copy of thunderbird running at the time. The next
time I started Thunderbird, it started to re-download all 26000 messages in my
POP box.
I let the re-download run to completion, then quit Thunderbird. On re-opening
it, Thunderbird has re-started the whole download process _again_.

Aaaaaaargh! This effectively renders Thunderbird useless as a mail client.
Related to/duplicate of Core bug 239455?
In my case, there was plenty of disk space free, so this other bug is not identical, it looks suspiciously similar: maybe the common factor is that an operation was aborted in the middle.
I have seen this symptom. The mail was not actually being downloaded from the server. In fact there was no mail at all on the server. The mail was being "refound" in the Inbox because the Inbox.msf was corrupted. Closing T'bird, deleting the Inbox.msf and restarting T'bird (so it rebuilds Inbox.msf from Inbox) fixed the problem.

Reporter, does the issue still occur in the latest supported 2.0.0.x / trunk nightlies?

(1.5.0.x is now end-of-life and the latest supported 2.0.0.x is 2.0.0.16)
