Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050809 Firefox/1.0+ ID:2005080921 Tried it, and it works for me. I would have been very surprised.

Is there any indication that the browser crashes? Such as windows reporting that firefox caused an error and had to be closed? What display drivers are you using? Which make of graphics card? (another bug reports firefox crashing after the screen saver is exited with an firefox causing an error in the ati display drivers, maybe this is related)
