I am having the same problem to no avail. Was working fine this morning. And now wont load. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling twice. Just wont load. I am on the web with IE as that is the only browser that will work at the moment.
I have a desktop and a laptop. FF2 works fine on the desktop, but not on the laptop which is a new duo Mobile Intel® 945GM Express Chipset Family Toshiba P105 with 1GB RAM and 160GB hard disk. FF2 starts, but during the process of opening the starting page, it freezes and becomes non-responsive 100% of the time regardless of whether it's started in safe mode or not. I've tried every suggestion on this site (which I have diligently trawled) to absolutely no avail. I've even changed the IP. I've tried the EN-US, EN-GB and Google toolbar variants. Same dismal result every time! As premature baldness is beginning to occur, I'd like to know what I can do to get FF2 working on the laptop please?

I have seen this bug also on my friends Toshiba laptop when he turns on the laptop (Windows 7) and opens Firefox --> gmail.com Firefox freezes. If he opens any other page Firefox is running without freezing.
