The dialog should notice this and refuse to allow it.

How do you reproduce this? It's WFM
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20050814 Mozilla
Sunbird/0.2+
It could be that Sunbird is not using the new event dialog yet. I saw this bug
in Lightning.

Shouldn't there be some kind of feedback telling the user why the accept button
is disabled?

I agree that there should be some sort of feedback, but I think this bug is
dangerous enough (on the inadvertant data-loss front) that I'd like to check the
patch in as-is now, and then leave this bug upon so that we can cons up another
patch for that.
Basic dataloss patch checked in.
Summary: new event dialog allows end time to be before start time → new event dialog should show feedback when end time < start time
Fixed by the dialog unification (bug 296893)
