thunderbird seems not to play any wav sounds when you change the settings in preferences to "custom
.wav sounds".
A lot of people have complained about that for years in the support forum but i couldn´t find a bug
report according to that.
It is realy annoying that this doesn´t work at all. That shouldn´t be such a big problem to solve that as
all other simple app´s are able to play custom sounds, and of course mp3 sounds.
I have found a report in the support forum for that in 2003 but nothing has happened since than.
Is it not possible to solve this little but for user important thing?!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. try to change the settings in "preferences" from System New Mail Sound" to "custom .wav file"
2. for the next incoming mail the system sound will alert instead of the wav file which doesn´t work in
the preview either
3.

Actual Results:
it plays the system alert "beep"

Expected Results:
it should play the .wav file
