i am using windows 2000 server sp4, with firefox 1.0.6,  which shows a blue
circle with arrow often. But when i clicked that it displaying a window with
"Firefox is now checking for available updates" with a progress bar which moves
faster till last 1/8 approx. then starts the problem. From that point onwards it
wont move an inch, evenhough for a long wait also it wont turnup. still the same
after a long time.  tHis happened for me in the FF 1.0.4 also so i updated to FF
1.0.6 manually

Steps to Reproduce:
1.click on blue ring at the top right corner

Actual Results:  
a window appered with "Firefox is now checking for available updates" with a
progress bar. and same after long time

Expected Results:  
it should display available updates, then allow user to select which he wants to
update

Bug 288054 - Unchecking "Allow web sites to install software" causes software
update to hang

Check the Software update setting in the Advanced section of the options
