User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 Since several years I use Opera as my offline reader. I have 10 accounts with more than 40'000 emails. I want to migrate to Thunderbird and therefore exported - as a test - all emails with the small program "mbs2mbx" (http://www.kmkorn.de/sw/opera/mbs2mbx.htm) into mbx files (Eudora). When I import those mbx files directly in Thunderbird, only 20'000 show up after the import is finished. 20'000 are just gone. When I index the mbx files first in Eudora and then import these files into Thunderbird, i get 28'000 emails transferred. (In Eudora itself all the 40'000 are present). Still 12'000 not imported emails... Reproducible: Always Expected Results: Tell me more about what happened and why so many emails are not treated during the import procedure (which takes about two hours).

The Penelope project has fix importing from Eudora. Not sure if that will help in this situation, however.

Moving bugs from TB: Migration to MailNews Core: Import, as the code for Outlook, OE, and Eudora migration is almost entirely shared within the core import code.
Component: Migration → Import
Product: Thunderbird → MailNews Core

Stephan if you use https://wiki.mozilla.org/Penelope_Extensions on top of TB3.Bb2 do you still encounter your issue ?

The improved importing is actually in Eudora, not in Penelope. So you'd need to download and install a Eudora 8 beta to get at the improved code, which you can find here: <https://wiki.mozilla.org/Eudora_Releases>. Most (but not all) of the improvements made in Eudora have made their way back in to Thunderbird. So it's possible that if this works in Eudora 8 it will work in Thunderbird 3 as well.
