Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050815 Firefox/1.0+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050815 Firefox/1.0+ After successful updates and then when restarting Firefox it just can't use the previous profiles. Every time profile manager appears and then I click on an previous profile it says "Cannot start xxxxx. The profile is in use. Close instances ............ " I updated with version Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050815 Firefox/1.0+ and updated to version : Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a) Gecko/20050816 Firefox/1.0+ Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Help->Check for updates 2. Successful update. Restart Firefox 3. Firefox is started with a default profile. 4. Close Firefox and start with -p switch, opening profile manager. 5. select any previous profile and click Start Actual Results: Cannot start profile xxxx. Profile is in use. Close all instances of Deer Park Or select another profile Expected Results: Started with the previous profile With the new trunk builds as from bug 304874 the themes and extensions are not working. And my previous profiles had themes and extension installed on them. However when I deleted the current FF folder and replaced it with a copy of the branch build of 15th Aug, the one I am currently using, I still got the same ERROR. The only resolution I found was to copy all contents of my previous profile. Then create a new profile. Replace the old profile files in this new one and then start the new profile, to bring things back to normal

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20050817 Firefox/1.6a1 (Today's build using standard methods) I am seeing something very similar - the only profiles not declaring themselves "in use" are ones with no spaces in the profile names. Neither can I install extensions ...

Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20050817 Firefox/1.6a1 My profiles.ini now contains bogus filenames, and a fox compiled 5 days ago which used to work, fails in a similar way.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050816 Firefox/1.0+ ID:2005081620 WFM with profile on the default location (it's only possible to update to trunk where extensions don't work currently).

This could well be more fallout from bug 299992 and if so the patch coming for bug 304874 may well fix it. Changing to all OS since Mac and Windows users have confirmed.
