It should be possible (from the View menu) to hide the "My Sidebar" section without hiding the folder tree. I for one find the presence of the sidebar in mailnews completely annoying, as it serves no useful purpose for me. Collapsing it still results in wasted space. There should be an option to get rid of it all together.
You mean someting more radical than bug 26259, "My panels needs grippy to collapse it"? Right now, I can resize it so that only the title bar "My Panels" shows, but on restart, it resizes to show all the tabs. Personally, I'd be happy with a persistent collapsed state which would only show the splitter.

I checked in a fix for this today. See the "View / Sidebar" menu option.

Unless I'm mistaken (in which case hang me and resolve this again), this isn't really fixed. The reporter's asking for a way to hide _just_ My Sidebar -- NOT the mail folders. The View | Sidebar option seems to hide the entire sidebar, including the mail folders. "It should be possible (from the View menu) to hide the "My Sidebar" section without hiding the folder tree.

Pull and try this again. I checked in the menu option (Thursday) before I checked in the logic (Friday) that removes only the sidebar.

Verified Worksforme. When this bug was originally verified, selecting View|Sidebar completely removed the Sidebar so the "My Sidebar" title didn't even show. Selecting View|Sidebar again opened the "My Sidebar" area as expected. It still works this way so verifying worksforme.
