User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.8) Gecko/20050511 Firefox/1.0.4 I am using Win2K Pro, with 1G of RAM. The system crashes, in following situations using Firefox 1.04: Holding the vertical scroll bar and quickly scrolling up/down; Using the mouse scroll wheel rapidly I have to click the PC's Reset button to start up again. I really like your product, but this is becoming a nuisance. I don't know if this will help, I used to experience the same thing wile using Opera. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Holding the vertical scroll bar and quickly scrolling up/down 2. Using the mouse scroll wheel rapidly to scroll up/down 3. Actual Results: Windows crashes, no mouse activity, no keyboard response. Expected Results: Anything but freeze the OS

Can you try in Firefox-safemode ? It may be an extension causing the problem
I tried to replicate this in normal mode but could not replicate. Later on in the day, I started Firefox in safe mode and PC froze while browsing a page - lost my work. I have noticed that it occurs while the page is loading, also note that I have at lease 10 windows open.
It happened again (Normal mode), in a span of 30 min. This time it is a bit different, I was copying and pasting from browser to TextPad, as soon as the browser was clicked, the PC froze. I had fewer windows open this time.

Here is a replicatable crash which is probably related. In recent (22-Aug-05) builds of both Firefox and Thunderbird- Click and hold on the vertical window scroll bar, then drag the mouse down beyond the bottom of the window and off the screen. The act of dragging the bar further than it allowed to go causes the crash (Windows XP). The same seems to happen in HTML text input boxes (such as I am typing into now). Click and drag (to select text) beyond the limits of the box, causes crash.

A Windows crash is definitely a Windows bug. There might also be a Firefox bug, but it would be very hard to know without someone from Microsoft figuring out the Windows crash. Especially without us being able to reproduce it.
