RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 634947

On re-reading my comment in Bug 285903, comment #2, I think the proposal warrants its own bug. Suggestion is for a mechanism to specify that a comment is flagged for attention of specific user(s). Depending on these users' prefs this might either generate email (despite them not necessarily being otherwise mentioned on the bug), or cause a banner to appear e.g. "[Bug 12345 has unread comments for you]". The [Reply] link could, by default, mark the comment as F.A.O. the comment author to whom you are replying. This could help to alleviate problems such as: - User who leaves a comment and never bothers to check back for the follow-up queries. - Someone who is CC-ed in order to ask about a specific point, and then isn't sure whether their services are still required (so gets lots of bugspam for uninteresting changes). In effect this would make something similar to the "review request" system, but for comments rather than attachments.
I recall Hixie asking for something like this once, too -- maybe there's even another bug for it.
Bug 634947 has a good proposal to implement this and has a broader audience than this bug. Duping.
