RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 270287

People

(Reporter: benjamin, Assigned: mscott)

Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/412.6.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/412.2.2
Build Identifier: Thunderbird 1.0.6

In news messages [1] marked as utf-8 [2], the text is displayed as Times New Roman, 16pt. My default
is Times New Roman, 15pt; after changing this to a different typeface and size, the utf-8 text continued
to be displayed in 16pt TNR. Unchecking the "allow messages to use different fonts" option had no
effect.

As an example, take the thread "Newlines mangled when pasting in normal mode [Vim 7, OS X]" from
comp.editors. The first message in the thread (by me, and posted as utf-8) displays in 16pt TNR, while
the reply from Mikolaj Machowski (no charset specified) displays in the expected 15pt.

[1] I don't use Thunderbird for mail, so I don't know about mail messages.
[2] Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8. Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. View a news (mail?) message formatted as utf-8.
