When using the scrollbar or entering a text field in Firefox and Thunderbird i
find that the application that i am scrolling in becomes unresponsive for about
10 seconds. The Task Manager in XP reports that firefox and thunderbird is using
00 CPU and that my IDE process is at 99 CPU - The title of firefox changes to
unresponsive. Please note that this problem only occurs in these two application
and the rest of my windows apps function normally. I use to use Firefox 1.2 and
the problem did not occur in it.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Browse to
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=Firefox&format=guided
2. use the scrollbar to move up and down.
3. Sometimes it becomes unresponsive.
Actual Results:
Firefox becomes unresponsive for about 10 seconds.
Expected Results:
Worked normally.

Do you get the same problem if you run Firefox in the Firefox safemode ?
I ran firefox in safemode today. The problem persisted but the unresponsive
period was much shorter max 2 seconds - The unresponsiveness of the application
did not cause the title to change to unresponsive.
I had the following tabs open when it happend:
1. http://www.mozilla.org/
2. http://www.mozillazine.org/talkback.html?article=7175
3. http://www.caminobrowser.org/
4.
http://developer.mozilla.org/devnews/index.php/2005/07/12/deer-park-alpha-2-released/
5. http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x/
Could something on my PC be intervering with these 2 applications?
The following programs are running in my tray.
1. NOD32 Antivirus
2. Skype
3. Windows Messenger
4. Microsoft Anti-Spyware

The antivirus application could be the problem but I don't know that.
Skype, Messenger and MS Antivirus should not be a problem.
I might have some aditional information.
Last time that i reported the bug i had my Intel P4 processors HyperThreading
enabled. In the last week or so i disabled it and found that Firefox worked
perfectly.
In the meantime i also updated to v 1.07 but to confirm that the hyperthreading
was the problem i switched hyperthreading on again this morning. An yes the
problem was back immediatly.
So it seems like firefox and possibly thunderbird has a problem with
hyperthreading processors otherwise i have buggy processor that only affects 2
applications.

Do you still see this problem using Firefox 3.5? Please update the bug, and close/alter bug if appropriate.
