Have you used a new profile? Are you using a firewall - will need to be told about differnt software versions. This is clearly a support issue, not a bug (most people can use FF fine). Please consider using the Mozillazine forum: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=38

Yes it happens in safe mode and with a different profile. Also logged on to the system as a different user after reboot and same thing happened. Have Norton Internet Security, have tried everything with it turned off and no change, havn't uninstalle it as yet. Everything went south after I got a notice about new FF, 1.06, and then closed all apps and installed it.

Found the problem, FF1.06 doesn't like Norton IS 2005. Uninstalled Norton and problem with FF1.06 went away. Reinstalled and problem came back. Guess I'll have to use Netscape till there is a fix.
That sounds like a firewall problem. You need to ensure that Norton IS kniows to let FF access the internet.
