This might be a drawing problem. I saw it once without even hitting Enter.

in fact, i can explain with more details now ... So, in the branch build Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050831 do this: Open mozilla --> the home page is displayed, but there is no adress in the adress bar ... click on a link --> no adress in adress bar and no back button --> click on a other link --> no adress in adress bar and no back button Open a new tab and type an adress --> on this tab, click a link which will open in the same tab (not a _blank link) --> for this tab, the back button exist now and the adress is displayed Return to the first tab: now the adress is there and the back button is enabled, with the full history available Other scenario, maybe more reproducible: From your mailer: Click on a link --> the site will open in the first tab --> click on 2 links on this site: no adress in adress bar, no back button As i've configured firefox to open links from external application in a new tab on the most recent windows, i click on the same link in my mail --> second tab, this time with the adress displayed ... i click on one or two links --> there is a back button enabled ... if i go back to the first tab, now the adress is displayed and back button enabled ... So, yes, this is a maybe a drawing problem

Simpler test case: open firefox: you have your home page without the link in adress bar ... click on several links --> no back button --> simply open a new tab with ctrl-T --> go to the tab and return to the first tab --> now, there is a back button enabled and an adress in adress bar

I can not reproduce this on Mac Deer Park Branch build from 0902. The address rendering works fine.
WFM, Deer Park 8/31/05. This could be some sort of painting race condition, but I'm closing this bug since we don't have evidence of that and it is unlikely we're going to get anywhere with this bug any time soon. Perhaps someone could post better repro instructions?

I had the same problem, but I don't use MozCC. However, I disabled Web Developer, and the problem disappeared. So WFM, and removing my vote.
