Unfortunately I have been unable to come up with a set of steps to reproduce this bug. However, using Firefox on my main PC means I encounter this problem _every_day_ in some form or other. When using Firefox and having switched desktop a number of times using the multiple desktop powertoy from Microsoft, copy and paste functionaly stops working. Listed below are some of the various symptoms I have encountered at various times: * I can select text in a Firefox tab, but when I right-click there is no copy option. Similarly cut and copy options are disabled in the menus and the shortcut keys do not work * Selecting addresses in the address bar suffers the same problem as above, no context menu copy option, no main menu option and keypress has no effect * On some occasions selecting _part_ of the address in the address bar will allow that portion of the address to be copied when the whole address cannot (I have copied addresses from the bar by leaving off the "l" in .html when selecting) * The "Select All" menu option was available when copy was not, so I tried using that to copy a page from a tab. After clicking it, the copy option became available though the text was not highlighted. Instead, the text in a _different_ tab was highlighted and could be copied. * Pasting can be problematic, especially for text copied from Firefox. On many occasions I have had to copy text from FF to notepad/textpad, reselect and copy it before pasting into Firefox. These are the principal problems encountered. Unfortunately I have been unable to generate steps to reproduce them as of now. If I subsequently do find out how to reproduce any symptoms I will add them to this bug. Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce Though not reproduceable by me, I encounter this problem after continuous FF usage every day.

(In reply to comment #1) > Related to Suite bug 133439 comment 8 and bug 264037 comment 2? Yes, difinitely to the former. The latter I have also experienced but its perhaps more relevant to what I described in a previous bug report 305774. When the ' and / keys are triggering the find function in a text box, the cursor keys and home end keys don't work. From my experience, cursor/home/end keys not working has a stronger correlation with the find dialog pop-up than with the copy/paste functionality.

pmork@mitre.org: The multiple desktop powertoy is associated with a lot of weird behavior, which can be demonstrated as follows. 1) Open Firefox in one desktop 2) Open multiple tabs 3) Switch to a different desktop 4) Return to the desktop containing Firefox 5) Ctl-tab to a different tab Now, the following behavior is exhibited: * Even after clicking on a page, the arrow keys cannot be used to scroll the page up or down. * Highlighted text cannot be copied. * The arrow keys do not work inside input boxes. * Typing the character ' in an input box opens the search pane (making it hard to type "it's" in an input box). * The address in the URL bar cannot be copied. Correct behavior can be restored by opening notepad, typing at least one character, and alt-tabbing back to Firefox. If you need more documentation, feel free to contact me.

I just installed Firefox 2 (Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4) and launched the virtual desktop powertoy. I followed steps 1-5 and verified that all of the behavior indicated above still happens. Peter

This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here.
