User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr-CA; rv:1.7.11) Gecko/20050728 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr-CA; rv:1.7.11) Gecko/20050728 I use message filters log since the beginning. I have 4 pop3 accounts and receive a lot of junk mail, so my filters are severe and I need to check logs to avoid "false positives". It suddenly ceased to work for all my accounts about two months ago. I was then on Mozilla rv:1.7.5 Gecko/20041217. Three events preceded the loss. But I can't remember in which order they happened, and have no clue if they have anything to do with the problem. 1) I localized Mozilla rv:1.7.5 to French using the Frenchmozilla package, 2) I had a crash of Windows XP with Mozilla running (loss of many bookmarks), and 3) I installed the MAF (Mozilla Archive Format) extension (in my profile). The next time I tried to check my log files, all I've got is the "use the check box below to enable logging". I've never been able to make any Message Filters Log work since then. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open the "Messages Filters" dialog from Mozilla Mail pannel 2.Click on button "Filter Log" 3.Check "Enable the Filter Log" and press OK Actual Results: I close Mozilla completely, restart the computer, start Mozilla (with highest administrative privilege for the OS and Moz), etc., and when I click on "Filter Log button", the same "use the check box below to enable logging" window appears Expected Results: I should have been able to see all the entry in the log, as it always been before. I tried all sort of combination (use clear log/restart Mozilla/restart the computer) and installed three new version of Mozilla, after complete uninstall (including removal of all extensions), and the problem is still there. It thus must have something to do with my Profile folder.

Filter logs are effectively cleared of all entry when command clear Log is used

Note that my messages folders are not in a "profile" or "mozilla-related" directory, but in specific folders on another hard disk (of the same machine).

Bug resolved with the release of SeaMonkey. The problem was a bug of all versions since rv:1.7.5 Probably a corruption of code that could not be fixed by uninstalling completely (including profiles and extensions) and then reinstalling the suite.

Franรงois, thanks for updating the bug. FIXED is not a correct resolution for the bug unless you know which patch or check in fixed the bug. Therefore, please close with a resolution of WORKSFORME or duplicate of bug 191185 (if 191185 sounds like your problem).
