This happens after the first part of the website is loaded, then a javascript part is started to load the rest of the page (my guess). During this process the browser crashed, all windows are closed. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20050827 Firefox/1.6a1 ID:2005082700 Works for me on WinXP, with trunk, branch and 1.0.6.

This problem is Mac-specific, and I've confirmed it (with Firefox 1.0.6) on Mac OS X 10.3.9 and 10.2.8 using Apple's built-in Java support (i.e. Java Applet.plugin and Java 1.3.1). The crash takes place inside the JVM (I can provide a crash log if someone feels it's necessary). It doesn't happen all the time. Even when the crash doesn't happen, the site doesn't work -- it requires LiveConnect support, which Java Applet.plugin doesn't provide. On Mac OS X 10.3.9, at least, this problem can be resolved by installing the Java Embedding Plugin: http://javaplugin.sourceforge.net/ (On Mac OS X 10.2.8 I consistently get hangs with the Java Embedding Plugin. I will need to look into that. I haven't yet tried Mac OS X 10.4.2.) > powerpc-apple-darwin7.7.0 This says what version of Mac OS X (10.3.7) your copy of Firefox was compiled on, not the version that you're using. Please let us know what version you're using. (By the way, the Java Embedding Plugin is now included with current Camino and DeerPark nightlies. Whoever's using one of those doesn't need to install the JEP.)

(In reply to comment #2) > On Mac OS X 10.3.9, at least, this problem can be resolved by > installing the Java Embedding Plugin: > > http://javaplugin.sourceforge.net/ I'm using MacOS X 10.2 with the latest security patches. Indeed installing this plugin solves he crash problem. The website does not work as expected, but this is then a java problem I guess? Safari also shows the problem (after selecting a car a window within the page does not show up correctly). Maybe it is related to the Mac version of java? >Please let us know what version you're using. MaxOS 10.2 with firefox 1.0.6

> MaxOS 10.2 Which version of Mac OS 10.2? If it's not 10.2.8, the Java Embedding Plugin is unlikely to work properly. A free updater to 10.2.8 is available to those who have any version of 10.2: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosxupdatecombo_10_2_8.html

This screen-shot shows the mis-rendering. The text should be presented in some form of a message box. I don't know, if this is triggered by firefox or if this is a java-vm problem on MacOS X.

This is 10.4.2 with latest security patches. Systemversion: Mac OS X 10.4.2 (8C46) Kernel-Version: Darwin 8.2.0 Sorry for any inconvenience my lack of attention may have caused.

Oh :-)
Thanks for the screen shot, though.
I've now tried this site in OS X 10.4.2 (with Firefox 1.0.6, using the current
version (0.9.3) of the Java Embedding Plugin), and had no problems. But I
don't speak German, so I didn't go beyond the first page.
Whatever the nature of your current problems (after the crash stopped
happening), they fact that they also happen in Safari means that they aren't
caused by Firefox. Bugs in Apple's Java implementation may be involved
... but I suspect that BMW just hasn't done enough testing :-)

Michael, is this still a problem with a recent release like Firefox 2.0.0.4 ?
