Bug 186789 is certainly NOT fixed.

In (for example)

Mozilla 1.7.10 Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.10)
Gecko/20050719 Fedora/1.7.10-1.3.1

Ctrl-Shift-C does not work, neither does Ctrl-Shift-M for mark all
read.

Much of the discussion in this thread misses the original point that
with gtk2 NOTHING with a C-Shift prefix is going to get to the
browser. Changing from C-Shift-C to C-Shift-M which has apparently
been adopted as "the fix" is irrelevant.

I have noticed that in the builds that use old X fonts, the shortcuts
work, but those that use fontconfig fonts they don't.

MOZILLA_1_7_BRANCH branch was created 2004-04-12, and I don't think the fix for
bug 186789 went in to the 1.7 branch. Does it works in the 1.8a release or any
other build from the 1.8 branch?

I don't have access to 1.8 branch. It does not appear at the mozilla "releases"
page. I'm just a user.

This was fixed by bug 186789. You are just using a build from the branch before
it was fixed. You can verify that it's fixed with these builds:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/latest-trunk/

The releases are sorted in chronological order, ie the 1.8a and beta releases
are further down the page. The 1.8b release is here:
