User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6

I think the problem has to do with Firefox's interaction with Unicode pathnames
on Windows. If I have a user with an account like टेस्ट (view with UTF-8) on
Windows XP, Firefox just doesn't start up, and there are no events logged
either. On accounts with ASCII characters, it starts up fine. I think the
problem is that firefox is unable to access the c:\documents and settings\टेस्ट\..
area correctly; seems it either can't handle Unicode pathnames, or Unicode login
names. Didn't find the bug reported elsewhere.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a user account with a Unicode login, say टेस्ट
2. Install Firefox (or already have it installed, makes no difference)
3. Start up Firefox using any method.

Actual Results:
Firefox doesn't start. No events reported in log.

Expected Results:
Firefox should have started up. Also it should even have created the initial
things it creates for a particular account on initial startup.

Marking it critical because if the software isn't starting in the first place,
how could people even use it.
This appears to have been fixed by bug 247377, although I'm not sure if it made
it into the 1.0 branch. Could you verify that this is fixed in the latest
builds? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla1.8/

Tried it with the latest nightly. Doesn't fix the problem. Starting mozilla
just does nothing. There is a brief instance where the hourglass is displayed,
but then all's silent.
I've installed v2.0.0.6. Firefox acts the same.
Could you try with a current Trunk nightly build?
Well, nothing is different. Minefield won't run. And it's very annoing because when you use a public PC you can never change a profile name.
I'm having the same problem. Apparently they have International versions of the application, but it makes absolutely no difference. It just doesn't open. I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate, not XP though.

Please use a recent version of Firefox, available at
http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/, and report back with your results in
relation to this bug report.

If this problem can be reproduced, please reopen this bug report. Due to age/lack of response, closing. (bug cleaning)
