firefox will not open since upgraded to 1.06. Just sends an error report to microsoft

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20050729 Netscape/8.0.3.3 Build Identifier: firefox.exe Browser will not open (firefox 1.06) since upgrade. Other browsers work fine. I have gone in to add/remove programs and removed the program the redownloaded but still unable to open Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.double click on firefox 2.error report for microsoft comes up 3. Actual Results: error report came up. Expected Results: browser should have opened.
Sounds like Firefox is crashing because of a bad extension. Do you see this in safe mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode (be sure you kill off firefox.exe before trying to use safe mode)

Uninstall FF and reinstall (to rule out a corrupted installation)

Can you rename your profile directory from %appdata%\mozilla\firefox\ to %appdata%\mozilla\firefox_old\ Than start Firefox It should start, but you would not have your old bookmarks and other usefull stuff. Close Firefox and go to http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup section "Making a partial backup". Copy the files mentioned there from your "old profile" into your new one and start FF again.
