I know you don't officially support Windows 95, but people are still using it
and Firefox has worked fine through v. 1.0.3. Starting with v. 1.0.4, bookmark
links work but page links cause "endless throbber" with no server request being
sent (based on watching for network communication lights).

1. Install 1.0.4 on Win95.
2. Load a webpage.
3. Click a link.

Can you try 1.0.6?  Do you have any firewall software that could be interfering?

Unfortunately, Windows 95 is EOL. If this can be duplicated with a supported operating system, please reopen it.
