User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 Build Identifier: I like to type my reply above quote, so I went to account settings, and set automaticly quote the original message when replying and then set start my reply above the quote. This works ok for plain text messages, but doesn't work for HTML messages ( one I noticed was question from eBay) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.set in acount settings to "Qute the original message when replying" 2.then select in pulldown menu "start my reply above the qote" 3.click ok 4. select message from eBay (in my case) and quote appears on top and coursor is under reply. Actual Results: Quote appears on top and coursor is under quote. Expected Results: I expected to be able reply above quote in both plain text and html messages.

Are you saying that a message you're composing in HTML doesn't work? Or just a reply to an HTML message (whether you're composing in HTML or plain)? When you reply to this message from eBay, does the From: field in your reply have the same (default) identity? The setting for signature placement is identity-specific.
(In reply to comment #2) > Are you saying that a message you're composing in HTML doesn't work? Or just a > reply to an HTML message (whether you're composing in HTML or plain)? all I'm saying, is that cursor position is after quoted HTML e-mail, not before like I want it to be. and this happens only when I reply to HTML message. Thunderbird version 1.0+ (20050830)

Is this still an issue with the 1.5 release? I've never been able to reproduce the problem described here.

I get an opposite bug... I prefer to reply in plain text and often when replying to mail (whether the original mail was plaintext or not) will display the compose window with HTML formatting. I have the follow options set: Compose messages in HTML format is unchecked. Start my reply above the quote. With those options I sometimes get a compose window with HTML formatting buttons at the top, which means I'm composing in HTML format. I've recently switched to "start my reply below the quote" and I do not get this error with any emails.
I have this same problem. I'm currently using Thunderbird 1.5. So far it seems to be that if I choose "Reply" or "Reply-All" it works fine, however, if I choose "Forward", my signature appears BELOW the original HTML source (i.e. below the quote). This is very annoying as I do a lot of forwarding of HTML emails, that is, full HTML source emails (includes the HTML, HEAD, TITLE, and BODY tags). I either have to retype my signature, or cut/paste it from the bottom to where I want it. Sometimes I just leave the bottom one as is, and my email ends up with 2 signatures.

The question to Alex B from comment 4 is still open. (In reply to comment #5) > With those options I sometimes get a compose window with HTML formatting > buttons at the top, which means I'm composing in HTML format. That's not related to this bug. Do you have any identities defined besides your default identity? The "reply-as-html" setting is identity-specific, and replying to a message sent to an alternate identity uses that same identity as the sender of the reply. (In reply to comment #6) > I have this same problem. ... if > I choose "Forward", my signature appears BELOW the original HTML source > (i.e. below the quote). No, that is not the same problem. This is bug 273114.

I do have many identities set up. Thanks for pointing that out. -Rob

No response from reporter => WFM Alex B, if you're still experiencing this problem, feel free to reopen, but you must provide more information -- if we can't reproduce the problem, we can't fix it.
