Manually marking message as junk in "junk status" column causes read status to change several times

Details
To reproduce: 1. Mark any unread message as junk by clicking in the "junk status" column 2. Watch the read status (both the indicator and the font-face of the header) Actual: The status changes "unread" -> "read" -> "unread" -> read and then the message is moved to the Junk folder. Because "unread" is boldface, this makes the header "flash". Expected: The status changes from unread to read and the message is moved to the Junk folder. This may be related to bug 220933 which enabled the behaviour to automatically mark messages manually marked as junk to the Junk folder. Also note that it does not happen when using any other manual mark as junk mechanism.

Seems to only happen with IMAP accounts.

I see this only if both the source folder and the target Junk folder are on IMAP; if either is local, not.

(In reply to comment #5) > I see this only if both the source folder and the target Junk folder are on > IMAP; if either is local, not. I get the unread messages marked as "read" when tagged as junk in IMAP (remote) and POP (local) accounts. My Junk folder is local.

I also experience this behaviour using Thunderbird (with a Windows XP system and an IMAP account) in that if I mark e-mails missed by Thunderbird as Junk the status will also change to read. Those marked by Thunderbird itself are shown as unread. Since general advice (by the supposed experts) is not to open Junk mail, then my choice would be to leave them marked as unopened. Since most Junk is readily identifiable, there is rarely any reason actually open and read them at all! I do not have Thunderbird set to automatically transfer Junk mail to "Deleted". Another, possibly related, bug is that when e-mails marked as Junk in my "Inbox" are deleted (and moved to "Deleted") not all of those messages retain their Junk status.

as stated, i haven't seen this issue in a long time. my guess would be that it is related to an update-imap-from-server method? anyways, i would say "wfm"
