The normal way of doing so is to only scroll the scroll wheel and press <CTRL> with no need to press down the scroll wheel. This happens with multiple user accounts. I cannot find any entry in the prefs.js that would allow me to revert the behavior to normal. Reproducible: Always

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20050902 Firefox/1.6a1 ID:2005090214 Works for me (on FC4).

Yes, it works fine on my FC4 machine at work too. It is only on my home computer that I need to press down the scroll wheel. However, I hope that someone could shed the light about this strange behavior on my home computer.

Sounds like a problem with your home computer's mouse. If it's isolated to your home computer, I'd say this bug report is invalid.

If I change the mouse and the problem still persists, will you then believe that the problem lies within Firefox? I doubt that the problem is with the mouse, since I have no other odd behavior with my mouse when running any other application. I will test with a different mouse and will report.

User never got back about this. Was likely a problem with the xorg.conf mouse section.

Mmm... The problem still persists, but I must admit that it only happens with FC4. With any other distribution/version I have installed since, (Ubuntu 7.04, SLED10, FC5, etc...), the problem did not appear. Since FC4 is old and obsolete, I agree that this bug be marked closed.
