User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 There is no site inparticular that causes firefox to do this. I can be on a site and all of a sudden, AOL starts up. Firefox continues to be in an "active" mode but any pages that are loading stop and say "done" in the status bar and any new pages that I attempt to load say "done" immediately in the status bar.I can't even use Firefox now. It crashes at least once every 5 minutes. This only started happening a week or two ago. (Today is 9/2/05) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Just start surfin'. 2.It might do it after one page, it might do it after 10 pages, but it will happen. 3. Actual Results: AOL sign-on screen comes up on the screen over the site I am currently on. Expected Results: Surfing in Firefox shouldn't open AOL. That however, is not the main problem. The problem is that when this does happen, Firefox crashes. This happens with any theme. I have used Firefox with 5 different themes.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20050902 Firefox/1.6a1 ID:2005090222 There are a lot of AOL sites but the first two AOL Google results work for me. Maybe due to an extension?

Could you please provide a talkback ID for the crash? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Talkback
I have recently found out that I can duplicate this problem of AOL opening with IE. The only difference is that IE doesn't crash. The only thing that I can think of that I am doing the same with IE and Firefox is that I am using Google.

It may be that AOL is set to connect whenever it detects a usuable internet connection. (Sometimes enabled by default during install) This workaround merely prevents AOL from spontaneouly appearing (in most cases) and does nothing about the crashes associated with AOL's intrusions. These instructions assume that you are using AOL version 9: 1. Open AOL 2. Click Settings 3. Click Start-up Settings 4. Verify that "Open AOL when I am connected to the Internet" is unchecked. While you're at it, you may wish to uncheck "Enable Fast Start" if you use AOL infrequently. 5. Click Save 6. Restart the PC
