Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 Build Identifier: (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; ) Thunderbird/version 1.6a1 (20050902) in previous releases of thunderbird, in the message pane, if the message were html and contained an image URL (which would get displayed as an image in the pane), the context menu contained a context-menu-item "Save Image As..." which would present the user with a dialog for where to save the image. the current nightly build of thunderbird now displays a much larger context-menu, and there is a "Save Image" choice, but it appears to do nothing. (i have looked in my download area and see nothing after choosing this, so it appears to not even be silently saving the image without giving me the option of changing the name in the dialog box.) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open an email message that contains html with an image URL 2. ctrl-click (or click-hold) on the image in the message to bring up context-menu 3. choose "Save Image" Actual Results: nothing Expected Results: previously, step [2] of "Steps to Reproduce" would result in a 3-item context-menu, and "Save Image As..." would put up a dialog box allowing the user to select a folder and change the image name if desired.

(In reply to comment #1) > Related to bug 306866? yes it would seem so. thunderbird did it's auto-update thing earlier, and when i just tried it out on version 1.6a1 (20050903), the appropriate context menu as mentioned in the fix for 306866 appears, and that "Save Image As" does the right thing. so, fixing 306866 appears to have been the fix for this bug as well. marking FIXED. (you're welcome to change it to mark it as a dupe of the other bug if you like.)

ok, perhaps this bug needs to be re-opened ... in Thunderbird version 1.6a1 (20060225), i am seeing only the "Save Image" context menu-item, and it appears to do nothing. (also, the reason i even came back to this bug is ... why is the "Save Image As..." context menu-item gone? i'd much rather have the option to choose where to save the image each time, especially with mac since it usually puts you in the last folder in which you saved something.

(In reply to comment #3) > in Thunderbird version 1.6a1 (20060225), i am seeing only the "Save Image" > context menu-item, and it appears to do nothing. Same problem in version 3 alpha 1 (20060321) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open a message with an image in it (inline, attach, or URL) 2. right click to get context-menu 3. press "Save Image" Actual Results: Nothing happens afterwards Expected Results: "Save Image" should open a dialogue after which the image is saved to the chosen directory.

Duping to a bug about comment 3 -- the original report here seems to be a somewhat different problem. The issue there about missing "Save Image As..." is bug 328586. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 334544 ***
