Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050725 Firefox/1.0.6 (Ubuntu package 1.0.6) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050725 Firefox/1.0.6 (Ubuntu package 1.0.6) I've worked out that if I disable java in Firefox's preferences, it prevents the acroread plugin being loaded to open pdf files within the browser, and instead I'm prompted to save the pdf or open it in an external viewer. Note: I'm using Ubuntu. The problem and its eventual solution (not disabling java) are outlined in the following thread at ubuntuforums.org: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=332447#post332447 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install the mozilla-acroread plugin 2. disable java in Firefox's preferences 3. attempt to open a pdf file in Firefox Actual Results: You'll be presented with a prompt asking you to either save or open the pdf in an external viewer. Expected Results: The pdf should have opened within the browser using the acroread plugin. I'm running Ubuntu 5.04 (Hoary Hedgehog). The packages (and repositories): mozilla-firefox 1.02-0ubuntu5 (hoary) AND 1.06-0ubuntu0.1 (hoary-security) mozilla-acroread 7.0-09~5.04ubp2 (ubuntu-backports.mirrormax.net)
