Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 The ALT+D keyboard shortcut is used in Internet Explorer & Firefox for placing focus in the address bar, and selecting the URL that's already there. In other words, it does what CTRL+L does in Firefox, and Firefox accepts both ALT+D and CTRL+L for the function. ALT+D does not work in Firefox when CAPS LOCK is also on, or when SHIFT is pressed. It works fine when CAPS LOCK is off/SHIFT is not pressed. The SHIFT+ALT+D combo is a different keybord shortcut, and should not be expected to work as ALT+D does. But the CAPS LOCK is on, then pressing ALT+D situation is different, here the user expectation would be that it should work IMHO. I'd call this a small useability error. On another note, the CRTL+L shortcut works fine, regardless if CAPS LOCK is on or off. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Place focus on the webpage (in the content area) by clicking there with the mouse. 2. Turn CAPS LOCK on 3. Press and hold ALT, press D. Nothing happens. 4. Do the same as above, just with CAPS LOCK off. Actual Results: Nothing. Expected Results: Placed focus in the address bar, similar to CTRL+L.
