It probably also applies to any other else dictionary then en-US Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. click on "download more dictionaries" from "spell checking tab" in Options 2. wait for the download to end 3. possibly select IT-it from the drop down box Actual Results: No IT-it dictionary available Expected Results: In the drop down listbox there should have been IT-it dictionary

You have to save the file (right click > save as) and then either drag it into Thunderbird extensions manager, or use Tools > Extensions > Install to install it. If you just click that link it will try to install the dictionary in Firefox. Does this solve this for you?

This is not really a work-around. It's how you have to install extensions in Thunderbird. Resolving as WORKSFORME based on reporter's comments.
