User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7.10) Gecko/20050716 Firefox/1.0.6 always freezes computer when trying to view media player files - begins showing file, but freezes after just a second or so, freezing thw whole system. cannot move mouse (stuck) and ctrl+alt+del does not release system. i have loaded/reloaded IE6setup.exe a couple different times trying to eliminate the problem - unsuccessful. i have the 'mozilla update' as my homepage, to download the updates for this software (media player), and this also doesn't correct the problem. i have encountered this with media in emails mailed to me, as well as in mozilla. the ONLY thing that is different is that i had just loaded mozilla as my default browser. the system used to work fine w/ IE as browser. thanks so much. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.open above website 2.click on the 'windows media' option 3.it always seizes up my computer after a second or two. Actual Results: computer seizes up Expected Results: media should have played w/out a hitch,
The URL given points to a Quicktime file, not a media player file. I'm not sure if the website in question has configured it wrongly, but it only plays the video as far as it's loaded, then pauses without resuming when more has loaded. It doesn't freeze my whole system though, same system as yours. I did find that by clicking on the same link it then plays further into the video each time, presumably as far as it's loaded each time.
Summary: always freezes computer when trying to view media player files → always freezes computer when trying to view media player files
no, the page allows either QT, flash or WMP option of viewing the animation. upon clicking on the 'windows media' option, it will open the movie in a separate WMP window, and will begin playing the movie, and then seize up almost instantly. ?? jude
under windows xp sp2 with quicktime 7.0 running firefox 1.5b1, this page seems to be fine. try updating your quicktime, and maybe specify your firefox version.

this bug is invalid because all Mozilla.org applications are running in the User space and can`t freeze the whole OS (that is true for win2k/nt/xp/2k3). Only kernel Mode drivers or hardware problems can freeze your system. -> invalid
