Can you open the URL about:config, look for the preference javascript.options.showInConsole and then double-click to set this to true? Now open the JavaScript Console in the Tools menu and repeat the steps. Do any errors in the JS Console appear when doing "save image as..." in the last 2-3 tabs that don't work? Do you have any extensions installed?

Most likely this is a dupe of bug 159107. Try changing the download setting in the privacy section to clear upon completion. http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/options#privacy If this fixes the problem then it is a dupe of 159107, please make a comment in the bug either way.
It seem that the hint of Kevin works. I had the settings on "when FF exits". I changed it to "upon completion". Now it seems to work correctly. Thanks
