The datepicker functionality allows for MONTHS or YEARS (press the appropriate
field) but would be nice to show a combo.

Fields.. (bold is current)
Month - shows all 12 months
  Year - shows 7 years
.. see these alone very limited in use. To go from Sep 2005 to March 2006, is a
two step process.

Be nice to have a DROP DOWN on EITHER SIDE of the picker - between the field and
arrows.
So if I press between arrow and month ("< - September") "-" it should show..

..
..
Jun 2005
Jul 2005
Aug 2005
Sep 2005 <- bold

If I press between YEAR and Arrow "2005 + >" .. +

Sep 2005 <- bold
Oct 2005
Nov 2005
Dec 2005
Jan 2006
..
..

Reproducible: Always
If I'll get you right then you want to replace menus for month and year selecting on menulist. If so then I'd like this. Sorry but the rest isn't clear for me. Can you say a little more what do you want?

What do sunbird's guys think about replacing popup styled as menu on menulist? Is it your preference or did you get a problem like the one is in bug 280373 or bug 344075 (nested popup is showed on hover)?

In http://wiki.mozilla.org/Calendar:Calendar_View#Mini_Month_Pane something similar is proposed. I believe we have a bug for that already, but I can't find it right now. ssitter or mschroeder, maybe you know?

Funny, back in 2008 I understood what exactly was requested, but now I don't. Could someone please summarize what kind of improvement the minimonth needs? I find it quite usable currently.
