When I compose a new mail via "Edit as New" or via Double-Clicking of a template
and save it (Ctrl-S or Save as), then the original mail gets lost (deleted).
No problems when I do not save the new mail before sending.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a new mail via "Edit As New" of an existing mail in any folder or by
double-clicking on an existing template
2. Save the new mail via Ctrl-S (as Draft) or as template  
3. Send the new mail

Actual Results:  
The original mail gets a delete flag and disappears.

Expected Results:  
The original mail should be preserved at the original location.

I can confirm it, I see this with SeaMonkey trunk build 2005090105 on WinXP, but
not with 1.7 branch builds like Mozilla 1.7.11. No JS errors.

Adding dependency to the TB bug.

My only handicap with this fix:
Template gets lost after saving as template again and sending the mail
(just like a draft). But thats acceptable for me.

I tested many combinations, all were successful:

Double clicking or edit as new or edit Draft --> draft disappears after sending
Double clicking or edit as new from template --> template persists after sending
Edit as new from IMAP inbox or local folder  --> original mail persists after sending 

Thanks to all, I change resolution to FIXED

SeaMonkey Trunk 2005120309 on WinXP. 
The behavior is still different to Mozilla 1.7.x and IMHO this is a bad idea. Edit as new from a draft msg and saving overwrites the original msg instead to create a NEW msg in Drafts. Sending does not delete the original draft msg.

So this is only a little bit better with bug 317396 comment 9 after bug 292568 comment 11. But for the drafts part I still see this as a bug, because as a user and in particular as a Mozilla Suite user I assume "Edit as New" does not delete the original draft message. I will file a new bug about this. Changed back the summary to the reporter's issue.
