User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050908 Firefox/1.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8b4) Gecko/20050908 Firefox/1.4 Assigning a button to close the current window on MS Intellipoint (tested on 5.30.606) or MS Intellitype (5.00.174) no longer works. It worked through Firefox 1.0.6. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Assign a button to "close" in Intellimouse or Intellitype 2. Press button Actual Results: Nothing happens Expected Results: Window closes, as if control-W was pressed.
Also noticed this issue when I installed Firefox v1.6 on 12-02-05. My version of Intellimouse is Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 (Version 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158), running on Dell Dimension 4600 with WinXP Pro SP2. Previous versions of Firefox (1.0x) allowed "CLOSE" to be assigned to scroll wheel/button. Version 1.6 does not appear to allow this. All other assignable functions for the same wheel/button seem to work just fine. Assigning "CLOSE" to any other button has the same effect of not working. Would be great if this could be reinstituted for new version(s) of Firefox.
WORK-AROUND FOUND!! Slight satisfaction...noticed that Intellimouse includes an option for KEYSTROKE assignment. I was able to assign ALT+F4 to the mouse wheel and now have identical functionality as to what I had before for CLOSE. Hope this work-around helps others...

Hope this > work-around helps others... > How did you assign a keystroke to the mousew heel? I'm don't see where I'm able to do this on mine. Do I need a new version of the mouse software? Mine just has a pulldown menu to select from...
Original bug still exists with IntelliPoint 6.30.191.0, Vista x64, Firefox 3.0.10.
